Week 9 - Blog

What have you learned thus far about designing instruction from a multiple media perspective? How do you think the use of audio-visual instruction will benefit teaching and learning? What do you think will be potential issues with the use of audio-visual instruction? How do you think it will impact your teaching and learning?

I have learned about the limitations and benefit of using multiple media perspective in designing instruction. Till now I have found audio and visual to be the beneficial for teaching. Learners will enjoy learning watching visual while somebody else narrates for them. Skills like hearing and seeing will be improved. We can see audio visual being used in our classes when slide, projector, PowerPoint presentation are used. They provide the direct way of conveying information.

The issue with this kind of instruction is that learners can lose concentration while being narrated. The narration might be too slow or fast. Students while trying to pair narration with visual instruction they might stuck behind. Audio-visual when recorded will be on same timing and can be repeated. In class if a teacher shows a map, model and explains about it. There can be chances that they students might forget the model or map until they reaches home.
