Write a blog entry reflecting on the use of color theory and visual design in instruction. How do you think they interact with each other to aid with teaching and learning? How is the use of visual design and color theory helpful? How can it detract from the learning process? How can you use it in development of media for teaching in learning? Do you think it transcends media formats?

Color theory and visual design are important for instruction. Color theory is the practical guidance to color mixing and the visual effects of a specific color combination. Color theory has three categories: the color wheel, color value and color scheme. Visual design is the method to communicate and share information through images, colors, lines, symbols.

Color theory and visual design interact with each other to arrange pleasing visual experience for the viewers. In visual experience, display should be good-looking to eyes so that viewers are interested and stay involved. The looks can either draw the attention or lose interest of the viewer. The use of color and visual design is helpful in learning and teaching process. Students use internet as resource for their assignments, research paper and projects. If the website has bad color scheme or poor design, learners will lose interest even though the content shared is informative. They can get attracted to the website which is attractive but may contain less information or false information. Website should have color, hue, tint, image, line, symbol, text meaningful to content displayed. Combination of these should create clean, readable, pleasing to eyes and easy to use website. The content should attract learners and keep them engaged. The webpage about use of media cannot be same as getaways.

There is always chances that color and visual can detract from learning process. Learners will lose interest if the website has poor color combination, unnecessary use of color, no color, overuse or no use of visual aid, too plain or too many text.

Media make it easy to convey the message. Both color theory and visual design can be used to develop media. It enhances the learning process as it makes it easier for learners to recognize and remember. The purpose of media and targeted audience should be kept in mind while developing it. Overuse of color, visual aid, and media can overwhelm learners which may result in loss of interest. I think it can transcends media formats do it is necessary to use it properly.
